Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Prepares repair orders (RO) by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs and services required; obtaining approval signatures; entering RO into service database system.
2. Maintains customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of boat/vessel; obtaining customer's approval of estimates; obtaining and providing contact telephone numbers; answering questions and concerns; arranging towing and temporary transportation.
3. Maintains boating records by recording problems and corrective actions planned. 4. Ascertains problems and services by listening to customer's description of symptoms; clarifying description of problems; conducting inspections; taking test drives; checking boat maintenance records; examining service schedules.
5. Verifies warranty and service contract coverage by examining records and papers; explaining provisions and exclusions.
6. Develops estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor; calculating customer's payment, including deductibles.
7. Maintains awareness of safety issues and reports them immediately to supervisor
8. Other duties as assigned by management
OPERATING RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work performed and composed of a variety of different tasks, calling for the use of sound judgment, and compliance with policies and procedures. Must be a self-starter and be able to work in a team environment to achieve team, department, and company goals. Assists with a number of projects at one time and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of customers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Previous Marine Mechanic experience preferred, not required
2. Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair and service technical equipment
3. Excellent customer service skills – known as someone who goes above and beyond
4. Must have a positive attitude
5. Must have highly effective communication skills and time management skills
6. Must be able to maintain a calm, positive attitude during periods of high activity
7. Ability to manage multiple project simultaneously
8. Excellent attention to detail.
9. Must be able to pass a background check
10. Basic water safety skills
11. Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions
12. Ability to work under pressure.
13. Must be able to work flexible hours on the needs of the property
