Overview Join to apply for the Life Coach I role at The Assets . Were on the lookout for a passionate Direct Support Professional to join our team. This position provides direct and indirect support, guidance, companionship and trainings to individuals experiencing developmental disabilities and/or mental illnesses in a variety of community and home settings. Full-time Monday-Friday. Pay starts at $17.80/hr. Valid Alaska driver's license and insured vehicle required for this position. Responsibilities Adheres to and demonstrates Assets, Inc. core values, mission, policies, procedures and compliance plan in the performance of all aspects of this position. Effectively supports individuals in achieving social and community inclusion consistent with their personal/cultural preferences and treatment plan objectives. Provides training on daily living, coping, social and socio-sexual skills and supports served individual progress toward independence. Provides basic safety, supervision and monitoring of individuals served, as prescribed in treatment plans and site protocols. Promotes and supports individuals in achieving a holistically healthy lifestyle. Assists in the development and maintenance of natural supports. Advocates for individuals served and ensures timely documentation of all treatment, programmatic and billing procedures. Completes tracking and service notes by established timeline; maintains and updates working file content. Documents activity money and coordinates prudent fiscal tracking with supervisor, other staff and care providers. Uses crisis prevention, intervention and de-escalation techniques according to procedures and site protocols. Participates in treatment team and staff meetings; interfaces well with all team members. Provides input and contributes to formulation and development of individual treatment plans and reviews. Satisfactorily completes all required trainings within established timelines. Maintains confidentiality and ethical practice; adheres to company standards. Available to work a varied and flexible schedule based on client and team needs. Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or site requirements. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Previous experience working with individuals experiencing developmental disabilities or mental illnesses or related training is strongly preferred. Language Skills: ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Mathematical Skills: ability to perform basic arithmetic and interpret simple graphs as needed for tasks. Reasoning Ability: ability to follow instructions and deal with problems using common sense. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: must have an insured vehicle and current Alaska driver\'s license, pass a criminal background check, and provide driving record, proof of insurance and educational credentials at time of hire. Other Skills And Abilities Ability to work professionally and collaboratively with a team to provide quality service to individuals experiencing developmental or mental illnesses. General knowledge of mental illnesses and/or developmental disabilities. Compassionate, patient and non-controlling orientation toward individuals served. Commitment to learning and developing Direct Service Professional core competencies; identify areas for self-improvement and pursue training resources. Good communication and listening skills to establish collaborative relationships with served individuals, team, co-workers and supervisors. Ability to maintain professional boundaries and therapeutic relationships with served individuals. Basic computer literacy.
