To Apply:

Please send a current resume with three references, a recent family photo, and a one-page cover letter to [email protected] . In your letter, briefly share your story and explain how God is guiding you to pursue a ministry position in Montana. We will accept resumes through April 30th. Our goal is to present someone to our church by July 1st.

Salary & Benefits:

Compensation will be based on education and experience. This will include salary, housing allowance, mileage reimbursement, ministry expenses, healthcare allowance, mobile phone expenses, retirement allowance, and life insurance.

Position Overview:

We seek a humble and Spirit-filled man who is passionate about the Gospel, expositional preaching, disciple-making, and multiplying leaders for the advancement of the Kingdom. The Lead Teaching Pastor collaborates with the plurality of elders and staff to ensure day-to-day operations and ministries at Big Sky Fellowship are maintained and flourish so they can be healthy and replicable.

We are looking for a collaborative leader dedicated to equipping and empowering others to embrace our mission, vision, and values. The Lead Teaching Pastor will exemplify Kingdom values and Kingdom living. Additionally, the Lead Teaching Pastor will promote a shared vision and possess a shepherd’s heart.

Profile of Characteristics, Qualities, & Convictions:

  • He must have a vibrant relationship with Jesus and rely on the Holy Spirit.
  • He must exemplify the truth of Scripture with the grace of the Gospel.
  • He must be committed to the authority of Scripture as the divinely inspired Word of God, which serves as our foundation for belief and practice.
  • He must be an effective communicator corporately and interpersonally in both written and oral skills
  • He must be an active disciple-maker focused on life transformation.
  • He must be committed to a balanced view of salvation. We believe the Bible teaches God’s sovereignty in salvation (election) and that salvation is available to all who will repent and believe (whosoever). These concepts work together mysteriously to bring glory to God. We will not consider a candidate who places an intense concentration on Calvinism.
  • He must commit to maintaining our affiliations with the Southern Baptist Convention, the Montana Southern Baptist Convention, and the Treasure State Baptist Association.
  • He sees the value and priority of relationships while understanding his limitations and the need for healthy boundaries.

Preferences:

  • A bachelor’s degree from a Christian College or a Bible School Graduate.
  • A Master of Divinity from a conservative seminary is advantageous.
  • At least 10 years of ministry experience in various roles within the church.
  • A willingness to embrace a long-term commitment to Montana life and culture.

Our Church:

Our church is almost 19 years old. We value relationships, and disciple-making is part of our church’s DNA. We seek ways to engage the community and demonstrate the love of Jesus. Our church facility is only 7 years old. It is a 14,000-square-foot building that can seat up to 300 in one service. Our Sunday morning Children’s Church offers five classes for infants through fifth grade. We prioritize one-on-one discipleship and small-group discipleship to foster growth. Currently, we have six part-time staff members, three elders, and six deacons. We have several ministry teams and have created a discipleship pipeline for men focusing on character and skill development to grow as spiritual leaders. Additionally, our women’s ministry emphasizes mentoring women in both life and ministry. We aspire to multiply through church planting and revitalization in the region.

Our Community:

Our church is located in the North Valley of Helena, MT, with over 12,000 residents living within a five-mile radius of our facility. Helena is the capital of Montana, and our facility is just ten miles from the state capitol building. The population of the Helena Valley and city exceeds 60,000 and continues to grow. Montanans enjoy outdoor recreation, and it is a family-oriented community. Many Montanans no longer identify with the religious affiliations of their families, and 26% report having no spiritual heritage. Among them, 45% have a Protestant background, 23% come from a Catholic heritage, and 6% have Mormon roots.  For more information about the city of Helena, please refer to the following link:
