Job Description
The City of Red Bank has an immediate opening for a Laborer 2. This is a full-time position that performs a variety of manual labor tasks in areas such as streets, parks, sanitation, and the removal of yard waste.
JOB OVERVIEW
The right candidate will achieve by:
Demonstrating the ability to follow directions.
Demonstrating an ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision.
Demonstrating proficiency in the operation of various hand tools while using proper personal protective
equipment (PPE).
Supervision Received: The employee works under the general supervision of the Public Works Supervisor. On occasion, independent judgment must be used to accomplish tasks.
Supervision Exercised: None.
Salary and Benefits:
(G1) $40,227.00 annually - Day Shift M-F 8:30a-4:30p + excellent benefits.

After having met the above requirements, candidates must successfully complete the following:
Oral interview board composed of a combination of departmental members.
A comprehensive background check, including but not limited to, criminal, financial, and personal
history.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential functions are fundamental job duties. They do not include marginal tasks which will also be performed but are not incidental to the primary job functions.
The use of mowing equipment to maintain city's rights-of-way and parks.
Trim trees on rights-of-way.
Assist Drainage/Street crews/Solid Waste Department in everyday activities as needed.
Maintain city-owned buildings that require maintenance.
Specialized abilities and skills required to perform the tasks/duties effectively
Knowledge and skills required to operate city-owned trucks that require CDL license.
Knowledge and skills required to operate city-owned mowing equipment.
Ability to use chainsaws/pruning equipment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of materials and equipment used in general maintenance and construction work.
Ability to lift up to 70 pounds, walk and stand for long periods of time, and to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
Ability to safely operate equipment and power tools; i.e., lawn mower, weed eater, chainsaw, pressure washer, hedge trimmer, and leaf blower.
Knowledge of general maintenance.
Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
EQUIPMENT
Major Equipment and computer systems used to handle or perform this job:
Pickup truck.
Lawn and landscaping equipment; i.e., tractors, mowers, edgers, weed trimmers, pressure washers, hedge trimmers, electric motors, pumps, sprinklers, and irrigation systems.
Miscellaneous hand and power tools for maintenance, carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and cement finishing work.
Janitorial equipment including floor buffers, steam cleaners, carpet cleaners, washers, vacuums, mops,
brooms, and dusting equipment.
Chainsaw
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Valid state driver’s license.
Any combination of education and experience which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform the work.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of one (1) year of some related experience to perform the job at hand.
Must be able to acquire a CDL license within six (6) months of employment.
WRITING SKILLS REQUIRED
Complete forms using words and numbers, etc.
SPEAKING/PRESENTATION SKILLS REQUIRED
Employee must be able to answer questions with brief response or provide standard information to
customers, citizens, supervisors, etc.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High school education or GED
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to operate, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
