Job Description

Club Monaco is looking for a skilled Junior Copywriter to craft product, site, email, social and other brand marketing copy for our brand. This position reports to the Copy Manager and will work cross-functionally with creative, design, production and merchandise teams to conceive and execute brand copy across multiple platforms. This position is on-site five days a week at our beautiful 1 Rockefeller Plaza office.

The Junior Copywriter thrives in a fast-paced environment, is hands-on, creative, detail-oriented and passionate about storytelling. This will be an important supportive role in shaping Club Monaco's copy, ensuring we're crafting cohesive and compelling messaging that engages, grows and retains our customer base. Candidates should be adept at capturing the essence of a story while embodying the brand voice to drive our company's objectives across both digital and print channels on a global level.

The Junior Copywriter assists in shaping how we communicate about our products and collections, aligning the copy of our online product description pages with the broader objectives of our partnered teams. This role requires the ability to meet the deadlines of daily deliverables and multiple workflows. Candidates with strong strategic thinking skills, problem-solving skills, and a consumer-centric mindset are encouraged to apply.

The Junior Copywriter should ensure accuracy and consistency across copy while working at every turn to position Club Monaco as a sophisticated, modern luxury brand. Candidates should have a finger on the pulse of the latest trends in luxury fashion, contemporary retail, and culture and strive to bring new ideas to the table.

This is an entry-level role, and candidates must be comfortable with administrative work in addition to regular duties. Most job functions will be completed as a part of wider projects and are subject to our editing and creative approval process. Responsibilities
  • Write clear, persuasive, error-free, original copy for product descriptions including romance copy for seasonal and monthly PDP; including collabs and other partnership initiatives
  • Write compelling, on-brand, SEO-friendly category copy that identifies the most interesting and important features of each item
  • Work directly with the product as required in partnership with the merchandising and studio teams to ensure all product details are accurate (i.e. fabric content, care details, fit, country of origin, etc)
  • Partner with Ecommerce team to manage and prioritize new merchandise for each month, gathering all product details to deliver accurate product copy that contains relevant selling points to the customer to minimize returns and questions to our customer service teams
  • Support storytelling for the site, stores, email, SMS and social
  • Ad-hoc copy needs, such as updating brand decks, drafting press releases and providing customer feedback responses (via BazaarVoice) on a weekly basis
  • Maintain and be a steward of Club Monaco's brand voice and guidelines
  • Proven experience as a copywriter with a focus on fashion, ideally for both men and woman and with a luxury brand or retailer
  • Experience crafting compelling captions and overlays tailored for Instagram, Instagram Stories, TikTok, Pinterest, and other relevant platforms.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work within brand guidelines
  • Demonstrate versatility in writing for fashion with an understanding SEO, key performance indicators (KPIs), and retail and social media best practices
  • Ability to showcase sophistication in wordplay, delivering impactful on-brand copy, and excelling as a storyteller and story packager

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or Marketing preferred
  • 2-3 years professional writing experience in Journalism, Fashion, Marketing, or E-commerce; PDP copywriting preferred
  • Experience in luxury or contemporary fashion essential, plus a working knowledge of the industry and current trends
  • Elevated taste level
  • Knowledge of textiles, fabric treatments, silhouettes and fits
  • Ability to take the initiative to research, grasp and bring the brand voice to life
  • Familiarity working within a CMS; Monday.com, Shopify and BazaarVoice preferred
  • Solid understanding of best copy practices including AP Style or the Chicago Manual of Style as well as a general knowledge of marketing and advertising principles
  • A natural ability to collaborate well with others and use feedback to improve copy
  • Ability to troubleshoot, be solution-oriented and manage through ambiguity
  • Resourceful self-starter with a can-do attitude who strives to see results and reach goals
  • Strong planning, project management, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while handling multiple projects and priorities
  • Please provide writing samples of fashion product descriptions, emails, banner ads, social media content, and other relevant materials in your portfolio
  • Location: onsite five days a week in New York, NY

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York, MCO includes a reasonable estimate of the salary or hourly rate range for this role. This accounts for the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to business or organizational needs, skill sets, experience and training, licensure, and certifications.

A reasonable estimate of the current base salary is $65,000 per year.
