Work LocationUNHQ Expected duration3 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesWithin the delegated authority, the intern will be responsible for the following duties: - Provide assistance in servicing intergovernmental meetings to ensure that required services and documents are available for meetings to convene at the scheduled times. - Provide assistance in preparing rooms charts and seating arrangements for different meetings in accordance with established protocol. - Provide assistance in the coordination and distribution of procedural notes, statements and relevant meeting documents to support services and substantive secretariats, when required. - Provide assistance in attending to queries from delegates and secretariats regarding meetings services. - Provide assistance in regular conference room check and set-ups for meetings. - Provide technical support to meetings i.e. keeping abreast of technology related to provision of electronic meetings services; gMeets, ODS, estatements and other computer programmes. - Prepare for servicing meetings in a paperless mode by assisting with uploading meeting documents and statements in designated meeting folders on share point for access by services. - Provide assisting with uploading statements on the e-journal portal and help delegates access electronic documents. - Provide assistance in support of the day-to-day operations of the Accessibility Centre and attend to delegates queries regarding accessibility accommodations and related. - Support the management team in maintaining key data sets, data models, indices and reports. Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this position, fluency (oral and written) in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage. Additional InformationThe internship position is located in the Meetings Servicing Unit (MSU) of the Meetings Support Section (MSS), which forms part of the Meetings and Publishing Division (MPD) of the Department for General Assembly and Conference Management (DGACM). The internship is for a period of three months with the possibility of extension, subject to the needs of the unit. The intern will work five days per week for a total of 35 hours under the supervision of the Deputy Chief, Meetings Servicing Unit. The internship is unpaid and full time.
