Job Description
Summary Industrial designer will develop the concepts for manufactured RECARO seating products. They will combine art, business, and engineering to create seating products that deliver the RECARO brand promise. They will consider the function, aesthetics, production costs, and usability of our product when developing new seating concepts
Responsibilities - Explore Human Centered Design experience with focus on seating designs with the emphasis on Interior Design holistic experience
- Coordinate the work of other design personnel and brand leadership to achieve holistic design visions and production capable designs
- Create future brand focused design visions from concept to production
- Drives innovation and integration of new technologies and design language into projects and activities in the industrial design organization
- Span digital and physical (software and hardware) thinking for seating applications
- Problems solve around topics of human in vehicle connectivity, mobility, and health through smart seating designs
- Acts as an expert providing direction and guidance to process improvements and establishing policies
- Frequently represents the organization to external customers/clients
- Leads multiple project teams of other designers and internal and outsourced partners responsible for all stages of industrial design and development for a portfolio of complex products and platforms, including design architecture, language, validation, and specifications
- Manages and expands relationships with internal and outsourced partners on industrial design and development
- Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with industrial design and development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality and user experience
Qualifications - Working on Advanced & Production Interior projects the successful candidate will have to develop both conceptual and production based on Interior solutions in the form of sketch, rendering and 3D digital models
- Having the ability to think creatively, strategically, and analytically
- Bachelor's degree in industrial design, Transportation Design, or similar field of study or a combination of education and equivalent experience
- 10+ years' Automotive or Transportation Design experience; including experience with final design product execution
- 10+ years of experience translating 2D to 3D and think three-dimensionally with a strong emphasis on proportions and a refined sense of form also required
- Evaluate and select 2-D and 3-D CAD tools and software packages for product design across portfolio Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Broad understanding and experience in methodologies for design testing and validation, including sketches, models, storyboards, and prototyping
- A design portfolio (pdf) must be provided upon application
- Global interior design experience with competency in seating
- Good understanding of exterior/interior manufacturing process and materials
- Passionate about automotive and mobility industry, global trends, innovation and customer needs
- Experience of working in or with creative cultures
- Experience of working in small, corporate environments
- Experience of managing multiple stakeholders across complex projects
- Experience of presenting to executive audiences
- Ability to interpret customer needs and global trends into compelling design
- Ability to work independently and provide strong technical aesthetic judgment to lead team members
- Awareness of global automotive and consumer innovation needs to ensure RECARO competes with the ability to lead
- Demonstrated creative interior design perceptions focusing on seating applications and capability
- Collaborate with OEM Customers, Marketing, Engineering, Suppliers and other partners to progress the design development
- Must have exceptional design intuition, strong problem-solving skills and a superior ability to visually communicate through sketches, and renderings
- Familiarizes self and maintains interest with design trends within and across design professions and global cultures (automotive, fashion, architectural, motorsports, etc.)
- Outstanding teamwork, leadership, visual, written, and verbal communication skills
