Position Overview:

Our client, a boutique immigration law firm located in Stamford, CT, is seeking a skilled and motivated Paralegal with experience in immigration law to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of immigration procedures, exceptional organizational abilities, and a passion for assisting clients through intricate immigration processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support attorney in managing a high volume of immigration cases, including family-based petitions, asylum, removal hearings, appeals, adjustment of status, and naturalization.
  • Prepare, review, and submit immigration forms, affidavits, and supporting documentation with meticulous attention to detail and adherence to legal standards.
  • Conduct in-depth research on immigration laws, precedents, and regulations to assist attorneys in case preparation and strategy development.
  • Draft legal memorandum and briefs.
  • Serve as a primary contact for clients, guiding them through the immigration process, answering questions, and ensuring all required documents are obtained in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with USCIS, NVC, consulates, and other governmental entities to facilitate case progress and resolve issues.
  • Organize and maintain client files, track case status, manage deadlines, and assist in scheduling appointments and meetings.
  • Stay current with changes in immigration law and policy to ensure accurate and compliant case handling.
  • Assist attorney with preparing for court appearances, interviews, and other immigration-related proceedings.

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in Spanish and English required.
  • Bachelor’s/associate’s degree, or paralegal certification from an accredited program, preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years as a paralegal in an immigration law firm or similar setting.
  • Comprehensive understanding of U.S. immigration laws and processes, including non-immigrant and immigrant visa categories, family petitions, and naturalization.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and immigration case management software.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office Suite and immigration case management software (e.g., Neutrinet, Docketwise, or similar).
  • Experience managing complex immigration cases or working in a high-volume immigration practice.
  • Occasional overtime may be required to meet filing deadlines or urgent case needs.
