Job Description

Applied Climate Solutions is an HVAC manufacturer's representative and building automation solutions provider serving building owners, engineers, and contractors in the Austin and San Antonio areas. We are seeking to add a Service Technician to our team to support and sustain our current growth rate. This role offers growth opportunities within the company for a motivated and goal-oriented individual.

Position

Service Technician – South Texas

This role is for a seasoned chiller technician to support our Data Center clients in Texas. The role, for the right candidate, can develop into a leadership role for the South Texas service team. 

Primary Duties

The Service Technician will handle both general and specific tasks related to HVAC equipment, including startup, warranty, and service repairs. This role requires travel for startup and training on chiller systems and airside equipment for National Account customers. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, be a self-starter, and be able to work independently.

Essential Job Functions

  • Start up and warranty support for factory equipment we provide.
  • Coordinate warranties with manufacturers and service partners.
  • Coordinate parts with manufacturers.
  • Perform diagnostics, service, and upgrades on electronic controllers (e.g., MCS controllers, VFDs).
  • Manage large service projects, including subcontractors, materials, parts, and schedules.
  • Conduct mechanical and electrical inspections and maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance for select customers.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as oiling, belt adjustments, cleaning, and greasing.
  • Diagnose service requirements using technical skills and experience, including system operations and applications.
  • Provide preventive maintenance inspections and suggest corrective actions.
  • Advise customers on additional beneficial services.
  • Represent the company to other contractors, owners, and trades.
  • Complete and submit necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the service coordinator or manager.
  • Familiarity with ACS product lines and equipment through factory training.
  • Willing to travel for National Account projects and training.

Qualifications / Skills:

· Strong Air-Cooled chiller background and strong mechanical aptitude.

· Ability to travel for National Account support.

· Ability to read and understand technical instructions and blueprints.

· Excellent communication skills.

· Three years’ experience with chillers, D/X, and airside equipment, including maintenance, repair, and operation.

· Valid driver’s license.

· Strong knowledge of equipment, tools, and methods used in commercial HVAC repair.

· In-depth understanding of air conditioning and heating systems, operations and safety practices.

· Strong diagnostic skills to assess equipment repair and maintenance needs.

· Ability to maintain records of work performed.

· Excellent ability to explain technical information to clients in an understandable manner.

· Ability to perform tasks independently.

· Proficient in computer use and relevant HVAC software tools.

 

Education and Licensing Requirements:

· Texas HVAC technician registration

· Certification or associate’s degree from an HVAC program at a technical school a plus but not required
