Description The Dougherty County Jail is hiring for a Grounds Maintenance Technician. The purpose of this position is to perform routine grounds maintenance for County parks, facilities and grounds.
This class works under close to general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks.
Essential Tasks •Assists with unloading of work trucks and delivery trucks and event set-ups.
•Assists with site setup of plant materials, flower bed maintenance, lawn maintenance.
•Ensures that job site staging area is clean and organized.
•Park cleanup and general restroom maintenance.
•Uses all installation tools according to company safety policy.
•Complies with safety policies at all times.
•General repairs and tool maintenance.
•Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualification •High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
•Six (6) months of grounds maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Supplemental Information Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
•Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, dancing, stretching, or lifting all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or exceptional skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving very close tolerances or limits of accuracy.
Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment): Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
•Involves routine and frequent exposure to:
o Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen.
o Extreme heat and/or cold; Wet or humid conditions.
Special Certifications And Licenses:
•Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
