Geotemps, Inc. is recruiting for a Mine Site Geologist. This position is located outside of Fairbanks, AK on a surface gold mining operation for the upcoming 2024 mining season. The Mine Site Geologist will be processing core samples, collecting core samples from the drill, and keeping accurate records.

Please note: Interested parties should be aware that this is not a camp position and employees will be responsible for housing, meals, and transportation to and from site. Per diem, and expenses may be covered, pending a conversation with the client.

Duties will include:

  1. Maintaining accurate drill logs and field logging of samples
  2. Supervising collection of samples
  3. Supervising drill rig setup
  4. Operation of field equipment
  5. Core processing
  6. Drill core logging-keeping accurate, detailed records of drill core
  7. Sampling- determining appropriate intervals for sampling and sampling accurately
  8. Data Entry- using site-determined software, entering drill data accurately
  9. Sample QA/QC-Following quality assurance/control methods in logging and sampling
  10. Adhering to site safety practices
  11. Other duties, such as picking up core from drill site and mapping, will occasionally be assigned

Applicants must:

  1. Possess a valid driver’s license
  2. Completion of at least two years on a mining or geologic degree at an accredited university and have successfully completed courses in mineralogy, economic geology, and structural geology
  3. Be able to lift and carry 50 pounds regularly and 75 pounds occasionally
  4. Be capable of passing a pre-employment physical, drug screen and background check
  5. Be willing to work in adverse weather conditions and able to maneuver frequently on uneven terrain
  6. Be able to communicate effectively both in person and on via radio
  7. Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team and with a commitment to working safely
  8. The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, walk on uneven terrain, sit and stand for extended periods of time, and work in inclement weather conditions
  9. The ability to pass a post-offer criminal background check, physical and drug screen and obtain appropriate MSHA certification
  10. Demonstrated proficiency in multiple computer applications including MS office suite
  11. Good data management skills
  12. Good knowledge of mine safety practices

Pay rate: $28 - $38 DOE
