Job Description
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Fleet Manager to oversee a $200 million portfolio of logistics equipment, including cranes, trucks, forklifts, bulk cargo handlers, and various ship-to-shore logistics equipment. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent leadership skills and a deep understanding of maintenance programs, cost mitigation, and efficiency creation. The ideal candidate will be self-driven, capable of working independently, and able to demonstrate success through operational uptime and effective capital planning.
Key Responsibilities: - Fleet Management: Oversee the operation and maintenance of all logistics equipment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Maintenance Programs: Develop and implement new maintenance programs in collaboration with technicians and shop managers. Identify costs associated with these programs and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Efficiency Improvement: Continuously seek out and implement new equipment and technologies to improve organizational efficiency. This includes electrification of cranes and vessels.
- Capital Planning: Plan and manage capital expenditures for new equipment. Work closely with manufacturers for the installation and integration of new machinery.
- Operational Support: Work directly with the current position holder for the first six months to ensure a smooth transition and effective knowledge transfer.
- E-Maintenance System: Enhance the use of the existing e-maintenance system, ensuring that all team members are proficient in its use. Create and monitor efficient standards across all three ports.
- Collaboration: Partner with organizational managers to implement repair cycles and monitoring programs, aiming to maximize uptime and efficiency.
- Leadership: Lead a team of technicians and shop managers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet management or a similar role within the logistics industry.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing maintenance programs.
- Strong understanding of cost analysis and mitigation strategies.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to work independently and make strategic decisions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in the use of e-maintenance systems and other relevant technologies.
- Experience with electrification projects is a plus.
