We are looking for a Finance Manager like you who will support the Vision, Mission, Culture, and Core Values. Is responsible for the financial management and reporting of government grants (Federal, state, local). Will have experience with non-profits, responsible for managing the financial aspect of grants, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, supporting all of the organization’s grant-related activities, Accounts Payable/Receivable, budgeting, cashflow management, and updating and implementing financial policies and procedures. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in accounting, grant management, and financial reporting. We are also looking for a kind and caring individual who will have compassion for the work they do for the company.

Here is what some of your responsibilities will look like:

  • Accounts Payable/Receivable.
  • Grant management and billing.
  • Budgeting for organization and multiple grants.
  • Maintain accurate billing records, communications, and documentation.
  • Create strategic business plans based on the analysis of the organization’s status and financial forecast.
  • Oversee cash flow management.
  • Reconcile bank statements in accounting system.
  • Update and implement financial policies and procedures.
  • Establishes and maintains effective, collaborative working relationships with center employees and outside agencies.
  • Manage financial aspects of grants, including budgeting, expenditure tracking, and reporting grant guidelines and regulations.
  • Maintain compliance with federal grant management rules (OMB Uniform Guidance).
  • Collaborate to prepare information for grant applications, including budgets with staff salary allocations, direct program costs, and indirect costs.
  • Prepare financial reports for grantors, board of directors, and senior management, highlighting financial performance and adherence to grant requirements.
  • Collaborate with program managers and grant writers to develop grant budgets, monitor spending, and ensure accurate allocation of funds according to grant restrictions.
  • Prepare and manage grant-specific budgets, including communicating funds availability.
  • Conduct regular financial analysis to identify variances, trends, and potential issues related to grant funding and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Maintain records pertaining to all awards, including contracts, budgets, reimbursement requests, expense substantiation, timesheets, etc.
  • Maintain grant-related documentation and records, including grant agreements, financial reports, invoices, and supporting documentation for audit purposes.
  • Prepare monthly payroll allocations to ensure employee time is appropriately charged to grants. Work closely with Human resources to ensure timesheets reflect appropriate grant allocations.
  • Assist in the preparation of grant proposals, budgets, and financial narratives for new funding opportunities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and grantor requirements.
  • Stay updated on changes in grant regulations, accounting standards, and best practices in grant management to enhance the organization’s grant-related processes.
  • Record accounting transactions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Additional responsibilities as required.

 

What you will bring:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration (Preferred).

An equivalent combination of experience and/or education may substitute with a preference for 3 years of progressive relevant work experience.

 

Experience, knowledge skills, and ability:

  • High degree of accuracy.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets, proficiency in MS Office, data entry skills with a knack for numbers.
  • Three or more years of experience in grant accounting, ideally nonprofit or a similar role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to establish good working relationships. 
  • Requires exemplary problem-solving skills and research abilities. 
  • Must be organized with the ability to prioritize and maintain strict confidentiality. 
  • Excellent communication and computer skills and organizational skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), accounting software, and financial reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of grant management principles, financial reporting, and compliance requirements.

Licenses/Certifications:

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation preferred. A valid driver's license and proof of current auto insurance will be required for any position requiring driving.
