How You Will Make an Impact

This position will work with the EHS Manager, Plant Management team and Corporate Leadership team at the Reading manufacturing plant to ensure development and implementation of policies, documents. This position will interface with managers as well as team members on the production floor, to ensure that employees are following all company policies and provide guidance as needed on best practices to ensure the safety of team members.

 

The Nuts and Bolts

• Assist in the investigation process for accidents and injuries including the identification of root cause and necessary corrective action to prevent reoccurrence
• Develop written documentation and identity gaps in investigations ensuring that root-cause analysis has been achieved; assist department leaders in PDCA’s
• Maintain and trend key metrics such as TRIR DART, and trending injury data
• Assist with analyzing and summarizing key metrics to support reporting about EHS performance; including developing presentations to present findings
• Participate in corporate EHS audits and assessments to identify safety deficiencies such as LOTO, Machine Guarding, Hot Work and Electrical Safety 
• Interface with the regulatory community when required and assist the Plant EHS Manager in coordinating with regulatory agencies
• Compile and complete regulatory reports to comply with the reporting requirements for emissions, waste reports and OSHA reports annually
• Assist with the preparation and/or distribution of Safety related communications and/or postings
• Participate in the development of training materials, conduct training when applicable, and maintain the training database for tracking compliance and participation
• Perform IH monitoring and generate reports compiling results as required under OSHA
• Assist with Emergency Action Planning and Response

 

  Required Credentials

• Eight (8) or more years of progressive experience with EHS responsibility in a heavy manufacturing and industrial environment
• Bachelor’s Degree required EHS related field or sciences such as Industrial Safety, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or Environmental Engineering (preferred)
• CIH, ASP, CSP or Environmental certifications in progress
• Understand NIOSH and ACGIH documentation
• Must possess project leadership skills, with the ability to take a complex task, from inception to completion.
• Ability to collect, analyze, trend, and report statistics to plant personnel and EHS Manager.
• Demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping preferred
• Ability to collaborate with a multi-department team and build consensus
• Ability to teach and conduct training
• Ability to develop rapport with plant personnel, challenge when needed but learn when necessary
