Russell Tobin is looking for an experienced Director of Social Media with a background in entertainment (TV), and agency experience, etc. This is a DIRECT HIRE opportunity to join one of the most recognized streaming services in the industry. You must be local to the Los Angeles, CA area and work a hybrid schedule. Domestic travel will also be required for the role.

Job Title: Director of Social Media

Direct Hire

Annual Salary: $123,000 - $168,500.00 - based on experience

Location: Hybrid in Studio City - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday in office.

Hybrid schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday in office.

Notes: Director of Social Media

This role will lead a small internal team (Director + 1 team members) and collaborate extensively with external creative agencies. The ideal candidate will be a visionary content leader who lives and breathes social media, understands platform-native content creation , and can elevate the brand's creative presence across all channels.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Proven success in a creative social media leadership role.
• Deep understanding o f social media platforms and trends.
• Strong portfolio showcasing creative work and content strategy - we want to see one piece of their best work, it doesn't need to be a whole portfolio.
• Background in media or entertainment preferred.
• Highly motivated, proactive, and ambitious.
• Excellent communication and project management skills.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-volume environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership: Lead and inspire a small internal social media team, providing creative direction and mentorship.
• Agency Collaboration: Serve as the primary liaison with external creative agencies, ensuring high-quality output and alignment with brand goals.

Content Strategy & Execution:

• Develop platform-specific content strategies (TikTok, Instagram, etc.).
• Ideate and execute content that is trend-aware, engaging, and technically optimized for each platform.
• Create content on the fly—shoot, edit, and post directly from mobile devices when needed.

On-Set Presence:

• Attend film shoots and other key events to capture behind-the-scenes content.
• Travel as needed to locations such as Buffalo, NY , depending on production schedules ( estimated 40% travel).

Creative Innovation:

• Generate fresh ideas independently and in collaboration with vendors.
• Contribute creatively during shoots, including spontaneous ideation and execution.

Project Management:

• Oversee timelines, deliverables, and communication between internal teams and external partners.
• Ensure smooth execution of campaigns and content initiatives.

Interview Process

1. Initial Screen
2. Sample review: we'd like to see a piece of their work/the best thing they worked on. Once manager reviews we can set up an interview with him.
3. Virtual Interview – 30 minutes: hiring manager
4. Final Interviews – 2 Individual virtual 30-minute meetings
