Base pay range $165,000.00/yr - $200,000.00/yr
ADVI Health is seeking a Director, Policy, Research and Analysis with extensive health policy expertise in drugs and biologics, market access expertise, or both. An ADVI Director understands the nuances of health policy debates and has experience creating, assessing or advocating for policy changes at the federal, state, or commercial levels. A background in drugs and biologics, along with an appreciation for the patient, provider, and industry group perspectives that help shape policy in the space, is a necessity. Experience engaging with CMS, HHS, state Medicaid, and other federal and state regulators is preferred.
As a member of the team, the Director will monitor, analyze, curate, and present on a number of important federal and state issues that impact our client’s business imperatives, including reforms related to drug pricing, coverage, reimbursement and benefit design across public and private payers. The Policy Solution is steeped in Medicare and Medicare Advantage policy and payment, Medicaid and state health policy, as well as Exchange and employer plan policy issues. The team analyzes evolving commercial payer activities such as white bagging, copay accumulators and maximizers and utilization management concerns. The team’s biopharma work spans drugs, biologics, cell and gene therapies and vaccines with product-specific issues across all therapeutic areas (e.g., oncology, diabetes, rheumatology, neurology, and rare and ultra-rare diseases).
The Policy Solution complements the team’s know-how with an advisor network of operators, industry professionals, payers, policymakers and clinicians to provide highly specialized advice and counsel to our clients. The team also works cross-functionally with other Solutions such as ADVI’s Strategic Analytics and Value Economics (ADVI SAVEs) team to provide quantitative support with top of the industry data from Medicare and Medicaid, including managed care, as well as COVID-specific and chronic disease data. The Policy Solution provides mock CBO scores, ICER-like modeling, rulemaking rate setting analysis and other claims-based analyses. ADVI team members work seamlessly with one another to answer ADVI’s clients’ most pressing business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Leverages biopharma policy expertise to lead teams across projects and clients
Sets direction and manages the day-to-day work of Manager(s) and Associate(s) assigned to an engagement
Leads internal and advisor teams to drive client deliverables to completion within expected timelines and within budget
Provides subject matter expertise to client teams in a manner which strengthens the ADVI brand with the senior leadership of these clients
Independently analyzes, draws conclusions, and effectively communicates conclusions with regard to complex client issues
Manages or conducts primary and secondary market research to address client/project objectives
Proactively senses emerging relationship and project risks, establish contingency plans and manage expectations with both the client(s) and the ADVI client lead(s)
Builds and maintains strong client relationships - understanding client needs, managing expectations, and providing exceptional service
Builds relationships within existing clients to broaden reach including generating new business across ADVI Verticals, creating new client opportunities, building on your own and the firm's subject matter expertise
Serves as the day-to-day client lead on multiple clients and projects
Manages and/or sells a set dollar amount of sales and delivers a set dollar amount of revenue per fiscal year (i.e., business development responsibilities)
Develops and mentors junior members on his/her project teams
Directs and manages the planning, execution, and delivery of consulting projects, within timelines, project quality and budget expectations
Creates client ready or nearly-client ready deliverables clearly communicating complex research findings
Delivers expected operational and financial performance, contributing to ADVI's overall success (based on individual sales goal and revenue goal)
Establishes highly performing teams across projects and clients; leading, coaching, and mentoring a team of Managers and Associates
Develops a client offering, creating and enhancing core assets that contribute to ADVI's competitive advantage by identifying new opportunities, markets, and clients
Expands the depth of relationships within clients and across the industry, contributing to the visibility and impact of ADVI's brand
Creates tailored solutions for clients incorporating current market trends, policy changes and industry expertise
Meaningfully contributes to the culture, training and development of ADVI staff
Commands one or more areas of expertise important to ADVI’s business
Demonstrates subject matter expertise, playing the role of trusted advisor - providing expert advice and guidance - to clients and internal stakeholders
Willingness and ability to quickly learn new subject areas and solve complex problems with minimal-to-moderate supervision
Proactive and deadline driven
Anticipates and addresses project needs, effectively thinking through client objectives during research and deliverable creation
Works independently to deliver high quality, complex research within expected timelines
Analyzes industry reports, publications, policy proposals, legislation, and regulations to develop subject matter expertise within industry trends and market changes
Ability to multi-task across multiple projects, creating maximum leverage while effectively balancing project priorities and delivering quality

Education
Advanced degree preferred in health policy, public policy, health economics, healthcare management, public health, public administration, business administration, or a relevant discipline; a combination of bachelor’s degree and in-depth relevant work experience is also acceptable; advanced degree may be substituted for work experience
Experience
At least 10 years of experience in which could include employment by a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company, consulting firm, relevant trade group or advocacy organization or government agency
Deep knowledge and understanding of the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry
Experience with leading and developing teams
Location
Candidates can be based anywhere in the U.S., with a preference for those operating in the Eastern or Central Standard Time Zone. Candidates based in Washington, DC or Austin, TX, will have the option of hybrid work arrangements.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range is $165k - $200k with up to 20% bonus potential, depending on experience and qualifications. Exceptionally qualified candidates will be evaluated according to experience levels.
