Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic, customer-focused individual to join our sales team at The Bostonian Hotel, a AAA 4-diamond property part of Millennium Hotels & Resorts. The Director of Sales will handle proactive & reactive sales activities, adopting a total account management approach. This is a great opportunity for an individual wanting to expand their sales experience across multiple market segments and different customer groupings.

The Director of Sales is responsible for driving all sales and marketing activities and leading the sales team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and drive the sales & marketing plan
  • Lead & inspire, Coach, develop, and mentor Sales team and Catering team
  • Ensure optimum customer service and revenue maximization from account base
  • Develop new business opportunities
  • Drive proactive sales activities, including face-to-face appointments, calls, client entertaining, sales trips, and hospitality events.
  • Provide a positive and conducive work environment, lead by example
  • Represent the company in the market and industry
  • A deep understanding of the market services/products.
  • Exceeding monthly, quarterly, and annual sales for hotel rooms and food and beverage targets.
  • Implementing and executing strategic plans.
  • Building and maintaining good customer relationships.
  • Communicating effectively among clients, hotel managers, the sales team, and the corporate office.
  • Experience working with large group arrivals/departures and requests.
  • Leadership skills to manage all of the Sales Managers.
  • Creating reports, tracking sales numbers, budgeting, and on sales performance.
  • Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts, as required to meet the needs of the Company’s business operations.
  • Focus on the achievement of hotel financial goals/budget targets.
  • Ability to accurately forecast sales
  • Ensures compliance with and completion of all daily operational procedures by the Sales Department.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all Millennium Hotels, franchise, and hotel/departmental policies and procedures, ensuring that the Sales team is also informed.
  • Be knowledgeable and understanding of current customers and accounts, particularly those corporations, agencies, associations, tour operations, sports teams, and other groups or organizations who purchase hotel services.
  • Determine and implement what additional business or market segments the hotel should pursue.
  • Establish special packages or programs to boost occupancy during slow periods and create advertising through newspapers, direct mail, billboards, etc., in support of these programs.
  • Attend trade shows, chamber of commerce or civic events, and other local organizations supporting hotel sales.
  • Ensures communication with the General Manager, all other Department Managers, and staff.
  • Manages all aspects of employee performance to ensure productivity and a quality work environment.
  • Maintains the Sales Department’s annual budget.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum 5 years of sales experience

5+ years in a leadership role

Local Boston Market knowledge/experience

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in sales leadership and team management
  • Strong negotiation and business development skills
  • Expertise in account management and customer service
  • Excellent analytical skills to drive sales performance and strategy
  • Bachelor's Degree
