What We Are Seeking

Club Med is currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Director of Meetings and Events. This role is pivotal in driving sales and enhancing the guest experience through the planning and execution of exceptional meetings and events while establishing strong relationships with clients to drive revenue across the organization. We would love a candidate that has experience with both affinity and MICE groups as well as sales and execution of them. We work directly w/clients as well as through incentive houses and travel agencies.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic leadership:

  • Develop and implement the overall strategy for Meetings and Events department to meet and exceed revenue targets.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align event offerings with Club Med’s business goals and brand standards.

Sales and Business Development:

  • Drive sales initiatives by identifying new business opportunities and nurturing existing client relationship and direct management of “legacy accounts”
  • Prepare and present proposals, negotiate contracts, and close sales with clients/partners looking to have events or group meetings in one of our resorts.
  • Responsible for the direct management of MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions)
  • Responsible for teaming with the travel agency sales team (indirect) to grow the affinity group business and work for flawless execution. Ability to sell full resort buyouts and oversee their program execution while at the resort

Event Planning and Execution:

  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of a wide range of events, including corporate meetings, conferences, weddings, and other social gatherings.
  • Ensure all events meet quality standards, exceed client expectations, and adhere to budget guidelines.

Marketing and Promotion:

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create and develop promotional materials and campaign that highlight Club Med’s events services and menu.
  • Attend industry trade shows and networking events to promote Club Med and support business growth.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Develop and manage the annual budget for the M&E department, ensuring financial targets are met.
  • Prepare regular reports on sales performance, event outcomes, and market trends to support strategy development.
  • Ability to work directly with clients or through 3rd party partners like incentives houses or travel agencies (we have a sales team that manages those relationships but this person would oversee that process as the expert.
  • Also work with internal clients - develop great working relationships with revenue and the resort leadership team

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop and high performing team in the meetings and events department with both sales and execution responsibility reporting in
  • Lead the group’s sales operations team, in charge of quotes and contracts (from signature to travel) and on property delivery
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages professional growth and accountability.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business administration, marketing, or a related field is preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in event management with at least 3 years in a leadership role within the hospitality or meeting/event industry.
  • Proven track record of driving sales and achieving revenue targets.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong negotiation and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficient in Salesforce and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
