Job Description Summary

The South Shore Health Cybersecurity Internship Program is designed to offer current college or technical school students an opportunity to collaborate with members of the Cyber Security Team and the Information Technology Division. Students will have the opportunity to engage in all aspects of Information Security applying concepts based on based on industry standard frameworks and using enterprise class Cyber Security tools. Students will have the opportunity to apply their skill sets through formal and informal educational opportunities and mentorship from experienced Cyber Security Team.

Job Description

Scope:

The work will be a blend of daily activities and assisting with projects that are cybersecurity-focused and expose the student to practical application of the principles, concepts, work processes, methods, techniques, regulations, reference materials, and procedures fundamental to Cyber Security.

Students will assist the Cyber Security team with maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of South Shore Health systems and networks. Students will learn all aspects of an effective Cyber Security Program. 

Administrative

• Overview of Cyber Security frameworks, policies, procedures, and guidelines (20%)

Technical 

• Summary and exposure to hardware and software mechanisms used to protect systems and data (60%)

Physical

• Procedures and tangible means of preventing or detecting unauthorized access to facilities, systems, or assets. (20%)

General Workplace 

• Learn how to be part of a team
• Gain Real-world work experience

Requirements: 

• Candidates must be enrolled in a minimum of (6) credits per term for undergraduate and/or be accepted and enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited college, university or technical school
• Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better
• Be able to work a minimum 8-week internship
• Attend South Shore Health New Colleague orientation as/if required by Human Resources

Program Assessment:

• Upon completion of the program, students will be asked to provide feedback
• Program effectiveness shall be reviewed quarterly
