Controller – Large Lumber Producer (Seaboard, NC)

Gervino Group is assisting a leading lumber producer in their search for a highly motivated and experienced Controller to join their team in Seaboard, NC . This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in plant management, offering valuable financial insights and support for operational decisions. Key Responsibilities:

• Develop a deep understanding of mill operations to drive improvements in accounting and financial processes.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including operational and statistical data.
• Create and maintain reports that track key financial and non-financial performance indicators.
• Manage accounting activities such as accounts payable, payroll, and monthly financial reporting.
• Lead the month-end close process, including general ledger reconciliations and account analyses.
• Maintain strong internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
• Oversee inventory analysis and control, ensuring accurate reporting.
• Provide weekly cost reporting and forecasting to support decision-making.
• Supervise and develop office staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Handle ad-hoc projects and assignments from mill management as needed.

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or finance.
• 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, ideally in a large manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; familiarity with Oracle financial systems is a plus.
• Experience with SOX compliance and strong understanding of internal controls.
• Supervisory experience with a focus on team development.
• A proactive, self-motivated individual with a strong ethical foundation and the ability to adapt to changing demands.
• Ability to manage high-pressure situations while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
