Schaumburg Park District is an award-winning parks and recreation agency that provides its 80,000 residents with a wide variety of recreational programs, classes, and events as well as facilities, parks and open spaces! Our Cultural Arts Department is home to our outstanding theatre program which hosts various productions throughout the year.
JOB SUMMARY
The Choreographer is primarily responsible for creating and teaching dynamic and engaging dance routines that enhance the storytelling and capture the spirit of the musical. The Choreographer collaborates with the director to develop the choreography that complements the overall vision of the production. The production this Choreographer will start with is Once Upon a Mattress: Youth Edition, which will feature actors ages 11 to 18.
QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidates should have proven experience as a choreographer, preferably in musical theater productions. Strong knowledge of various dance styles, including jazz, tap and musical theater dance is required. Our Choreographer must have strong organizational and communication skills. They should be dependable and able to work in a time-sensitive environment. Please be prepared to provide a portfolio or reel showcasing previous choreography work prior to an interview if selected.
SCHEDULING & PAY
This is a part-time position with varying hours depending on performance schedules (primarily evenings and weekends). Availability for auditions in late August and rehearsals leading up to the performance dates on October 19th and 19th 2024 is required. Pay is $17.00/hour to $18.00/hour DOQ (depending on qualifications).
