Job Description

Overview:

The Children's Apparel Fashion Designer will support the design team in executing the creative process for children’s apparel collections, ensuring alignment with brand standards. This role involves assisting in concept development, technical design, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products.

Type: Direct hire, full time

Schedule: Hybrid, 2 days per week in the office

Pay: $70,000 - $80,000 salary and full benefits package

Children's Apparel Fashion Designer Duties:

  • Assist in designing and developing children’s apparel collections from concept to production.
  • Create mood boards, flat sketches, and technical drawings using Adobe Illustrator.
  • Manage CAD development and provide accurate comments on salesman and pre-production samples.
  • Prepare and maintain technical packages and artwork mill sheets.
  • Support seasonal line reviews with printouts, swatches, and CADs.
  • Collaborate with merchandising, product development, and technical design teams.
  • Attend fittings and communicate with overseas vendors to ensure product quality.
  • Monitor project timelines and key milestones to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Review and assess design samples with meticulous attention to detail.

Children's Apparel Fashion Designer Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in children's wear design.
  • Portfolio showcasing relevant fashion design work.
  • Have a sincere interest in the children's wear market space.
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabric types, and fit standards.
  • Proficiency in CAD, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience working with overseas vendors is a plus.
  • Strong artistic abilities, with watercolor hand-painting skills as a bonus.
