Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
· Prepares cakes, pastries, icings, fillings, and any other necessary items needed for decorating.
· Setup, icing, and decorating all sizes and shapes of cakes from start to finish.
· Designs cakes for special occasions, following the clients’ specifications and special requests.
· Decorates cookies, cakes, cupcakes, and other baked goods for display and bakery counter sales.
· Inspects finished bakery products in accordance with Katella Bakery’s standard of quality, weight, specifications, and presentation.
· Knowledge of various icing borders, flowers, and writing techniques including color combinations, color wheel, and mixing colors, including working with buttercream, fondant, and chocolate
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)· A passion to work in a Bakery with a minimum of three years of previous pastry/cake decorating experience.
· California Food Handlers card is required for all food service employees who prepare, store, and serve food.
· A willingness to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
· Good organizational skills, ability to prioritize and work effectively within a sometimes-pressurized environment.
· Bilingual-English/Spanish skills helpful, but not required.
· Ability to read recipes, safety documents, and other work-related documents.
Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee is required to walk and stand during the entire shift, continuous use of hands and arms to reach; bend, kneel, and crouch. The employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific sensory abilities required by this job include sight and hearing. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to handle tools and bakery equipment and is exposed to airborne particles, and hazardous materials. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
