Job Description

Position Summary and Purpose
  • Packaging beers into cans, bottles, or kegs following all standard operating procedures
  • Palletizing and moving packaged product
  • Documenting key quality parameters and verifying beer meets specifications
  • Cleaning in place of brite tanks, canning line, bottling line, and any applicable equipment
  • Keg and jockey box cleaning and maintenance
  • Prepping equipment beforehand to effectively utilize shift team time
  • Troubleshooting packaging equipment and communicating any equipment issues to management
  • Keeping production areas clean and organized at all times
  • Training new packaging employees proper machine operation and safety procedures
  • Communicating with management and other packaging team members on the status of packaging
  • Organize, track, and audit inventory of bulk bottles, cans, corrugate, crowns, labels, and all other packaging supplies
  • Assisting in other brewery-related tasks
  • Any other duties delegated to by a supervisor/manager
  • Occasional delivery driving with box truck
Essential Requirements
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently in a manner that will ensure the employee and the team's safety
  • Understanding of cleaning and sanitation requirements in the food and beverage industry
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Organized and accurate record keeping
  • Able to frequently lift heavy materials (up to 55 lbs) shoulder height
  • Ability to work in a non-temperature controlled environment, handling of hazardous materials, and exposure to complex machinery
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and refrigerated, damp and wet environments
  • Ability to work on a ladder periodically
  • Be able to operate a forklift, or become forklift certified within 30 days with training
  • OT may be required, including occasional weekend work
Physical Requirements and Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is continuously standing during the entire shift. The employee frequently must lift and carry racks or stacks of dishes, glassware, and other utensils, weighing up to 35 pounds, up to 50 times or more per shift. The employee occasionally lifts and empties trashcans weighing up to 150 lbs., with assistance, multiple times per shift. The employee frequently bends, stoops, twists, reaches, pushes and lifts. The employee works primarily indoors in a hot, damp environment with some work done outside. This position required the occasional exposure to sharp machinery, broken glass, metal cans, and heat sources with some potential for injury. The employee is frequently required to wash hands. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
