DaVero Farms and Winery, a biodynamic and regenerative farm located in the Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma County, is looking for a Farm Manager to steward our vineyards, olive groves, and gardens.

We embrace the fact that ours is a Mediterranean climate, and therefore focus exclusively on growing trees and vines native to Italy. We actively cultivate a harmonious relationship with the land, guided by Nature’s principles and regenerative methods, in pursuit of California’s finest olive oils and wines.

The Farm Manager is responsible for everything related to the land, from developing long-term vision and implementing strategy, to managing the daily activities of both our full-time team as well as contractors, to engaging with guests about the importance and power of regenerative farming.

The ideal candidate will bring a deep passion for regenerative farming, an intimate knowledge of organic, biodynamic, and regenerative practices and principles (both the what and the why), natural leadership and communication skills, a lot of dirty-fingernails experience, and an eagerness to grab a shovel or hoe as needed.

We are a farm, first. Since the lion’s share of our revenue comes from wine, solid understanding of the nuances of viticulture (rootstocks, pruning methods, irrigation strategy, cover crops, canopy management, etc.) is important, as is familiarity with and an appreciation for wine. But equally important is a curious mind, driving a continuous quest for new ideas from all over.

Ours is a highly collaborative culture, and as a member of the core management team the Farm Manager actively participates in decision-making about the overall direction of the business. We encourage active, no-holds-barred participation in reaching decisions, coupled with unwavering commitment once decisions are made.

The farming team is responsible for both agriculture (grapes; olives) as well as horticulture (gardens; grounds). The full-time team is small, but is augmented by an experienced vineyard management contractor. In addition, the incumbent farm manager will be present to hand off the operation to the new farm manager to streamline transition.

QUALIFICATIONS

•  Deep experience and knowledge of organic, regenerative, and biodynamic farming methods and practices.
•  Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or other related field (or equivalent).
•  Minimum of five years of experience in an agricultural environment.
•  Passion for excellence, tempered by an appreciation for good enough.
•  At least two years of supervisory or managerial experience.
•  Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. regularly.
•  Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time and repetitively bend/kneel.
•  Detail oriented and quality driven.
•  Solid management and communication skills.
•  Valid driver's license and ability to be insured on company vehicles.

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS

•  Familiarity with Word and Excel, and comfortable with technology.
•  Ability to generate and utilize data reports.
•  Excellent communication skills, with customers as well as employees at all levels.
•  Openness to direction and constructive criticism from others.
•  True ownership of responsibilities, including meeting deadlines for reports & filings.
•  Ability to communicate in a persuasive and constructive manner that leads to positive change.
•  Mechanical aptitude, including an understanding of equipment maintenance.
•  Working knowledge of Spanish a plus.

This is a salaried, full-time position, and includes solid benefits including medical and unlimited PTO. Salary range is $75K-$100K, DOE, with room to grow as you do.
