The Behavioral Health Technician I position is responsible for providing direct and supportive care to clients/patients. This includes monitoring daily activities, intervening/responding to crises, facilitating group education and structured activities, and transporting clients as needed. Behavioral Health Technicians are responsible for understanding the client's/patient's treatment plan, documenting their behaviors, and providing a safe, therapeutic, and supportive environment. Key Responsibilities include active participation as an integral member of the treatment team, assisting in identifying client strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences, carrying out additional requests from supervisors, ensuring adherence to all program expectations and rules, reporting behaviors for effective therapeutic interventions, adhering to medication policies in collaboration with nursing staff, assisting in admission/orientation processes including obtaining vital signs, safety searches, and collecting specimens, educating and supporting clients in daily activities, and providing transportation support as required. Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include knowledge of confidentiality laws, effective communication, ability to interpret safety rules and procedures, basic math skills, proficiency in writing reports, ability to engage with clients and community members, problem-solving skills, keyboarding skills, and ability to maintain professional boundaries. Experience and education qualifications require a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of responsible employment, with preference for experience in Human Services or related fields.
