Cedar Park Med is seeking a compassionate and skilled Art Therapist to join our healthcare team. The Art Therapist will provide therapeutic interventions to patients, helping improve their mental, emotional, and social well-being through creative expression. This position requires a deep understanding of therapeutic art practices, patient assessment, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary treatment team. ***Hiring for both local and traveler positions! Only candidates outside a 50-mile radius qualify for traveler roles. Rates vary based on experience and whether the position is local or traveler. Apply today!*** Schedule: Day shift, 5 hours per day, 2 days per week. 8hrs a day, 5 days a week. And weekends. Key Responsibilities: Assess and evaluate patient needs and interests in relation to their recreational and social adjustment . Develop and implement individualized art therapy plans to enhance patients' physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Conduct individual and group therapy sessions , using art as a tool for communication and healing. Assist patients in leisure activities to engage the mind, body, and spirit, fostering adjustment to life with injury, illness, or disability. Analyze patient behaviors and progress , reporting findings to the treatment team. Utilize therapeutic de-escalation techniques for patients who may be aggressive or experiencing crisis situations. Maintain accurate documentation in medical records and provide progress reports to the treatment team. Collaborate with nursing, medical staff, social workers, and therapists to support patient treatment and discharge planning. Recommend, request, and maintain art therapy supplies and equipment . Supervise students and volunteers participating in the art therapy program. Participate in departmental training, in-services, and other professional development activities. Qualifications & Requirements: Master's Degree in Art Therapy from an accredited institution. Limited Permit in Art Therapy required at the time of appointment. Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) certification required within two years of appointment. Experience working with psychiatric, rehabilitation, or long-term care patients is highly preferred. Ability to manage patients with behavioral challenges , including those who may be aggressive or potentially violent. Strong communication and teamwork skills to effectively collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
