SUMMARY OF POSITION

Program Type: AmeriCorps State Program

Program Start/End Date: 3/1/2025 - 10/31/2025

Position Type: Individual must complete a minimum of 900 hours

Living Allowance of $9500 broken down into monthly installments and dependent on successful completion of hours

Position Start/End Date: March 1, 2025 - October 31, 2025; position is available for continuation/renewal

The Norsk Høstfest Association seeks a Communications Specialist and Nordic Content Coordinator to grow the mission of our organization. This role will be instrumental in refining and expanding our media strategies, coordinating the content of our many audiences, and implementing targeted marketing initiatives to strengthen our community presence. In addition, this position will work closely with staff and volunteers to grow the Nordic experiences while making excellence in execution for our annual four day festival that takes place the end of September. Working closely with the Executive Director, the successful candidate will be required to work independently to meet monthly benchmarks.

 

About the Festival:

Norsk Høstfest is a four-day Scandinavian cultural festival in Minot, ND, featuring top-tier entertainment, genuine cuisine, skilled artisans, merchandise, camping, and many other attractions represented by the five Nordic Nations: Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and Iceland. The event takes place each September at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds.

 

 

Areas of Responsibility:

 

Digital Media and Communications:

● Work closely with the staff and volunteers to ensure messaging is generated and created for the many elements of Norsk Hostfest

● Create graphics, fliers, and social media content that follows brand guidelines

● Update the website as needed

● Work with marketing agency to provide content and collaborate on creative deliveries

● Utilize digital tools as necessary, including: Canva, Google Drive, OneDrive, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, WordPress and Square

 

Content Creation:

● Work with photographers and marketing agency to film, edit, and publish videos showcasing their process, optimized for both YouTube and vertical video platforms

● Write content for the website and social media that will define and inspire visitors to attend

 

Nordic Content:

● Alongside of Hostfest staff, work with attendees to gather details related to their contracts and agreements

● Research, develop and execute invitations to vendors and artists who align with the mission of Hostfest and its attendees

● Assist in the recruitment and coordination of volunteers

● Assist with the set up and take down of the festival

 

Administrative Duties:

● Attend regular staff meetings

● Attend the annual festival at the end of September

 

Ideal Candidate Qualifications and Skills:

● High School Diploma or Equivalent

● Experience in nonprofit operations, marketing, communications, web and graphic design, writing, and film production/video editing is desired, but not required

● Demonstrated leadership ability and professional experience working with schools, nonprofits, and volunteers

● Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain positive relationships with diverse stakeholders (board members, artists, volunteers, and community members)

● Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with people of all ages

● Highly organized self-starter with exceptional multitasking abilities, able to prioritize duties, meet deadlines, and achieve goals in a fast-paced environment

● Adaptable problem-solver who can persevere in the face of obstacles

● Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Canva, and other design software

● Experience with website management and social media

● Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment

● Eagerness to learn, contribute, and grow professionally
