Job Description

Salary: $100,000 - 227,500 per year Requirements:

  • You meet our minimum qualifications if you:
  • Hold a B.S. in physics, applied mathematics, engineering, or a related field.
  • Have relevant experience in systems engineering for intricate systems.
  • Possess experience in early concept development, system requirements, functional analysis and allocation, and trade studies supporting the design, development, and evaluation of complex systems.
  • Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills, along with solid critical thinking abilities.
  • Demonstrate strong initiative, an eagerness for skill development, and the flexibility to take on diverse assignments.
  • Are capable of obtaining an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately secure a Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you'll be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information, which includes U.S. citizenship.
  • You'll stand out above our minimum requirements if you have:
  • An M.S. or Ph.D. in physics, applied mathematics, engineering, or a related technical discipline, with 5+ years of experience in systems engineering.
  • Over 5 years of experience in the strategic deterrence domain.
  • Experience in developing and verifying requirements for strategic systems.
  • A robust background in object-oriented programming and proficiency in C++, MATLAB, or Python.
  • Experience with custom scripts and/or plug-ins for MagicDraw modeling software (including its Cameo variant) and/or DOORS requirements software.
  • Familiarity with ontology development and scientific data modeling.
  • Experience in maximum likelihood estimation or statistical modeling.
Responsibilities:
  • As a Systems Engineer for Accuracy, you will:
  • Collaborate with a skilled team to develop accuracy requirements, determine verification processes, and execute architectural trades for next-generation weapon systems.
  • Define and construct a digital engineering framework for accuracy evaluation within a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environment.
  • Provide thought leadership for ongoing and future strategic weapon system digital engineering initiatives.
  • Support the system-level evaluation of existing strategic systems by applying statistical and mathematical expertise.
  • Engage with sponsors and representatives from other organizations.

The stated pay range reflects JHU APL’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may differ based on geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level while considering internal equity. APL may offer bonuses or other compensation based on internal policy or contractual arrangements. Additional compensation may include sign-on bonuses, relocation benefits, locality allowances, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
