Job Description



About this job:

The focus of this role will be to gain foundational skills in actuarial science and technical expertise. The intern will be a member of the US Life actuarial team. Internship projects will involve one or more of the following areas: pricing, research and innovation, and financial solutions.

About the role:

  • Create and maintain AXIS models for pricing reinsurance quotes and performing profitability analysis of results.
  • Peer review AXIS models and results performed by other pricing team members.
  • Ensure that models meet corporate guidelines, reflect best practices, and are updated for regulatory changes.
  • Support assumption development as needed based on data provided by the client for mortality, lapse and distribution.
  • Create and maintain documentation of pricing materials to support internal peer review, internal approval, and finalize for future audit requests.
  • Review client data against a checklist to ensure completeness for modeling. Support client interaction as needed on quote specific information.
  • Review experience for existing reinsurance clients to ensure that profitability is emerging as expected and recommend changes to assumptions, if necessary, during re-quoting. 

Qualifications



About you:

  • Strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Advanced Excel.
  • Knowledge of other programs such as R, SQL, Tableau, Python, is preferred
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • A self-starter who can work in an open, collaborative environment with a diverse team of financial professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote effective teamwork and accountability.
  • Strong work ethic and a desire to succeed.
  • Interest in pursuing Actuarial designation.
