2 positions available Length of Position: PermanentType of Benefits: FullMonths per year: 12Number of hours per week: 40 Number of days per week: 5State Salary ScheduleGENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB Possess skills in custodial work, cleaning bathrooms, hallways, empty trash, recyclables bins. Cleaning windows, sweeping and mopping and buffing floors with a propane floor machine. Applicant should have general knowledge on maintenance of equipment. Applicant would be required to get bus certification and licenses to drive a morning or evening bus route. This is in addition to the 40 hours for custodial duties and would be paid at overtime rate. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Sweeps, mops, vacuums, strips, waxes and buffs floor surfaces. Cleans restroom areas and replenishes paper supplies and soap as necessary. Cleans windows, walls, woodwork, blinds and light fixtures. Dusts and cleans desks and other furniture. Empties trash receptacles; deposits recyclable material in proper receptacles. Sweeps sidewalks and walkways outside of buildings; polices grounds, picking up debris; shovels snow and/or applies de-icing compounds to walkways and driveways, as necessary. Replaces burned-out light bulbs in offices and classrooms and/or assigned areas. Drive a school bus route, when needed. ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS Must secure buildings at the end of the workday. Must turn off lights at the end of day, and adjust heating or air conditioning, as appropriate. May arrange furniture for meetings or other events. Performs related work as required. MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCECustodian: High School Diploma. Minimum 21 years of age, 3 years custodial experience preferred or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Bus Driver: As a condition of employment with MCS, applicant would be required to obtain bus certification and license to drive a morning or evening bus route, when needed. This is in addition to the 40 hours for custodial duties and would be paid at overtime rate.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSPossession of a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina. An employee assigned to this position is governed by "Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace" policy which spells out drug testing requirements, procedures and consequences of positive alcohol or drug tests or drug tests or arrest for alleged violation of any alcohol or drug-related offense.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSPhysical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate vacuum cleaners, carpet shampooers, brooms, mops, leaf blowers, etc. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly and be able to lift up to 50# boxes of paper and/or furniture or objects. Physical demand requirements are for medium work.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES General knowledge of the standard methods, materials, and equipment employed in janitorial work. Some knowledge of cleaning procedures and the use of cleaning materials. Ability to follow instructions. Ability to perform medium physical work. Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in completing work assignments. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.
