MOTT MUSIC
Dir. Jarred Alterman

Documentary, USA, 2005, HD, 28 min

SYNOPSIS
Discover a Piano Factory in the Bronx, and the characters that dwell within. Explore the synchronous lives a Piano Voicer, Piano Technician and Piano Dealer.

Once a part of J.L. Mott’s Iron Works in the 1880’s, now, Beethoven Pianos is a place of piano restoration. Spend time with a crew dedicated to a craft on the threat of extinction. Listen to the philosophies of old school belly men and piano voicers who speak out in a world absorbed with technology and electric instruments.

“Mott Music”, filmed on High Definition, blurs the boundaries defining documentary filmmaking. A combination of hand held camera work capturing the raw emotions of factory life with slow moving dolly shots floating through factory walls, “Mott Music”, is a unique interpretation of the documentary format.
